You are welcomed by Katie and sound healer Julius Betila to an evening of Yin Yoga and Sound Healing on the Fall Equinox at Jaya Yoga Center.

Katie and Julius will combine the meditative qualities of yin yoga with the deep resonances of sound healing to provide access to body and soul together.

We’ll invite the spirit of the autumn equinox into the space: countering the yang energy of the fiery, active spring and summer, with yin energy — quiet, inward, autumn and winter — on the event of equal day and night.

What is yin?

Yin yoga is a different approach to yoga asana. Often referred to as a meditative practice, most poses are done lying or sitting down, close to the floor, and held for longer periods of time to target the connective tissue of the body. Yin yoga focuses on your experience of the pose more than prescribed alignment; it increases resilience, nourishes the joints and bones, and quiets the mind. This practice is suitable for all levels.

What is sound healing?

Sound meditation is a powerful mindfulness practice, in which we “bathe” you in sound vibrations from a variety of instruments, while you rest on a soft mat, and are guided through a deeply restorative meditation practice. In each session, you enter a state of deep relaxation, giving you the ability to restore the connection between your mind, body, and spirit.

Bring yourself with ease

Wear loose or stretchy clothes, and drink plenty of water during the day and after the event. Mats and other props will be provided. You might like a light snack an hour or more before class.

Pre-registration is required | $40
